Bonicelli Kitchen was a five year old thriving meal delivery service business that wanted to raise money through a Kickstarter campaign to expand their kitchen space and add a European restaurant/marketplace. They needed help getting the message out to the local food and community media as well as some targeted social media consulting and execution to sharpen their communication efforts.
Many local business and restaurants were using the Kickstarter method of fundraising through crowd sourcing so the media needed some newsworthy aspects of the story other than the fact that they were trying to raise $60,000 to expand their offerings. They had begun a Kickstarter campaign a year earlier but had halted the campaign because of changes in the business. Management needed to take a look at the existing marketing language that existed in mediums like the website and Kickstarter page create new content to effectively represent the new offering and strategy they were following to ensure a successful fundraising effort.
Sterling Cross worked with the management team to create one of a kind Kickstarter backer rewards that in turn enticed investment from their loyal following and motivated new investors through news interviews. Sterling Cross secured interviews with local food consumer and industry press, cooking demos on the local NBC TV affiliate, radio interviews, business and community print press.
Sterling Cross also assisted Bonicelli Kitchen in their communications efforts by writing the script for their Kickstarter video, created new copy for the their Kickstarter page with unique backer experiences such as a guided culinary tour to Italy led by the Owner/Executive Chef Laura Bonicelli, created a blog editorial calendar, and consulted with their community manager on content, imagery, and timing for social media posts. Bonicelli Kitchen was successful in their Kickstarter effort raising $60,425 in 30 days.
