Chronic Pain Recovery: A Practical Guide to Putting Your Life Back Together After Everything Has Fallen Apart

“Chronic Pain Recovery” – Inspiration and Guidance for Chronic Pain Sufferers from the Trenches

Twin Cities author Jen Kane launches book of advice and resources to guide caretakers or those in chronic pain through holistic options.

Minneapolis, MN – Jen Kane has had chronic pain for more than 15 years. Between a ripped spine, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, and numerous herniated disks, she has learned to manage and recover from this debilitating daily pain.  She has written a layman’s guide for those in crisis in an often misunderstood and underserved medical sector.  According to the CDC, one American is killed every nineteen minutes due to painkiller overdoses. Kane’s book provides support, data, and a resource toolkit using a largely drug free approach to chronic pain recovery.

An estimated 100 million Americans suffer from chronic pain.  Kane spent years researching trends, reading books and blog posts and fielded questions posed by other people in pain who have contacted her for advice.  A marketing consultant and author, Kane wrote this book because she saw the need for a voice from her community. The book discusses body, mind, lifestyle and support network advice. Kane has created a seven step Recovery Plan Tool Kit and provides resources such as Tool Kit and doctor visit worksheets, tips on finding and working with a therapist, and detailed reading lists that she has used in her personal research and success.

“When I wrote this book, my goal was to create the kind of resource I wished I’d had when I was first introduced to chronic pain—one that bridged the gap between well-meaning advice like “Do yoga!” and the harsh reality of trying to do anything in a body that refuses to behave. That’s why I included a toolkit in the book. My hope is it will help readers move beyond brainstorming to identify the first steps they can take to improve their lives,” said Kane.

Kane includes a resource page on her website that provides the introduction to the book and table of contents available for download.  The page also includes links to her video series of recovery tips, blog posts she has written on the topic of chronic pain and inspirational movies she recommends.  In conducting research for this book Kane found an unexpected support resource that provides the strength many chronic pain sufferers use to make it through their day – their pets!

Her book is available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
